2009-09-24. Strawberries started extending runners. They will become new plants next year. I definitely have high expectation!

2009-12-01. Fall is over. Fallen maple leaves covered strawberries.

Row 2 - Blueberry

2009-06-05. Our blueberry did not die in winter. It did not grow at all last year so I do not have much hope this year.

2009-09-07. As I expected. It did not grow in size nor have flower. I probably did not give proper care. Soil composition might not be right. More fertilizer might be needed. Or sunlight might not be adequate.

2009-10-14. Growing season is rapidly going away. It's getting cold and less sunlight is available.

2009-10-23. Fall came and goya season is over. They are this year's last harvest. They grew small as if no energy left for the plants to grow proper fruits.

Row 6 - Japanese cucumber

seed

Sell by 2009/09 Thailand

2009-05-02. Seedlings.

2009-07-03. Seedling just did not grow properly. It rained a lot and it was cold in early summer. While it's still tiny it flowered.

2009-10-25. Fall is over, I transferred them back to pot so that they can stay in the house again during winter. Let's see if they can take it the second time.

Row 10 - Tomato - Brandywine

seed

Tomato Pole Brandywine, Packed for 2009 Lot#1 Sell by 12/09

2009-07-23. 2009 early summer got lots of rain and less sun shine. It caused tomato farms around Massachusetts lots of damage. I am seeing it in my garden, too. They are too small for mid summer.

2009-09-07. Leaves became yellow and started dying. It's a disaster.

2009-09-12. A small tomato formed.

2009-10-14. All tomato plants died before they produced proper size tomatoes.

seed

2009-06-20. It's a female flower with miniature summer squash attached.

seed

2009-06-22. The flower closed after a day and half.

seed

2009-06-28. First, it seemed summer squash was growing.

seed

2009-07-09. But it rotted from the tip where flower is attached. After researching on the net, I learned summer squash needs to be pollinated; otherwise, it will rot. If bugs that pollinate are scarce, manual pollination was recommended. Challenge is that the flower closes in 1-2 days and male flowers need to be available for pollination.

seed

2009-07-10. So I tired to pollinate summer squash by rubbing male flower to female flower. After this I tried to pollinate every female flower.

seed

2009-08-02. Summer squash grew large.
